From 2009’s humble beginning with the MEATwagon in a Peckham carpark, to a mould breaking restaurant via an abandoned pub in New Cross, MEATliquor now have 12, soon to be 13 sites nationwide. Their distinctly recognisable dishes (The Dead Hippie Burger™, Buffalo Wings and Chili Cheese Fries being crowd favourites) have cemented them as the original purveyors of guilty pleasures.
Then there’s the liquor, as the name suggests. Canned and draught beer, boozy and soft shakes, and their cocktail list of MEATliquor classics. Their aim to make accessible and sessionable drinks led to a two-monthly rolling themed cocktail menu alongside their staple offering. Previous themes include ‘Ragnorok’, ‘In the Navy’, and ‘In the Doghouse’.
LCC 2017 sees MEATliquor collaborating with Bacardi to bring you ‘Bar for Life’. They have approached this menu with the aim of creating at least one sustainable element within each of the four drinks. Using the range of Bacardi rums, they’ve produced a menu of forward thinking twists on classics whilst helping to address issues with waste in a creative way.
Born in New York to a Cuban mother, Cesar Romero was well known for playing Latin lovers on the silver screen and adopted the nickname ‘The Latin from Manhattan’. He later famously played the Joker in the Adam West Batman TV series (bats…Bacardi…) – We take Bacardi 8, and gently stir it with homemade Vermouth and serve it straight up in a sophisticated nod towards his heritage.
Using the versatility of Bacardi Carta Oro, we have devised a cocktail where the final drink is tailored towards your tastes. The final adjustment is in the choice of beer reductions… whatever is on draught whether that be an IPA, Pale Ale, or Stout. How do you like it?
A lesser known classic but with an intriguing spin. Starting with Bacardi Carta Negra, we’ve then repurposed lime husks to create a Falernum, which is then infused with charred Corn and serve on the rocks with a cob ribbon.
Everyone loves a Pina Colada, but this one’s that extra bit cooler. We start with a base of Bacardi Carta Blanca, then shake this with our pineapple ketchup, fresh lime, and coconut water, over ice. Then topped with coconut meringue, flambéed and served with a cherry on top.
